BBK Kuna promotes Googaz: Virtual Reality for a sustainable food future
BBK Kuna, the social innovation space of Bizkaia, leads the search for solutions for a more sustainable and healthy future. With food as a strategic axis for 2025, BBK Kuna promotes Googaz, a pioneer initiative that uses virtual reality (VR) to promote awareness about sustainable food and emotional health, building a more aware and participatory Bizkaia. It also does so with a very specific segment of the citizens: the students of the Vocational Training Centres in the Basque Country.
BBK Kuna and Googaz: social innovation for mindful eating
BBK Kuna positions Googaz as a key platform to transform Bizkaia. It uses virtual reality (VR) to raise awareness, educate and mobilize citizens, offering immersive experiences that generate a deep connection and encourage changes in habits.
For 2025-2026, Googaz focuses on the crucial interconnection between food and emotional health. This strategic choice of BBK Kuna seeks to address food as a fundamental pillar for health, the environment and the economy, offering a holistic vision to build integral solutions and activate a more aware Bizkaia.
A collaborative journey: the phases of Googaz, led by BBK Kuna
The Googaz project, under the strategic direction of BBK Kuna, is deployed in three phases that promote the co-creation and participation of the Vocational Training students of the Basque Country:
- DESIGN Phase: a creative hackathon where young people develop scripts for VR games about food and emotional health. This key phase will take place on 18 September, initiating the creation of content.
- CREATE Phase: a development competition where students and professionals transform the winning script into immersive, educational virtual experiences.
- PLAY Phase: the winning VR video game is widely distributed in municipalities and schools in Bizkaia. BBK Kuna facilitates these experiences for citizens to reflect on their habits and the connection between food and well-being, inspiring transformation.
The trajectory of Googaz, promoted by BBK Kuna, already shows a significant impact: it has reached 39 educational centres, involving more than 3,000 people and operating in 16 municipalities. Each interaction spreads awareness and promotes small changes that, together, build a more just and healthy food future for Bizkaia, activating inspiring futures for the whole community.
