Co-creation and food: a marriage with the flavour of social innovation
Food co-creation is a powerful tool that brings together citizens, companies and institutions to design innovative and sustainable food solutions. It’s not just about cooking together, but collaborating at every stage: from production to consumption.
What is co-creation and why is it key in food?
It is a collaborative process where ideas and resources are shared to create something new. In food, this means involving all actors to address challenges such as waste, sustainability and health. It is key because it generates more adapted, effective and community-accepted solutions.
The role of BBK Kuna in promoting food co-creation in Bizkaia
BBK Kuna acts as a catalyst, connecting different actors and providing resources for food co-creation initiatives to thrive in Bizkaia. It provides spaces, programs and support to turn ideas into real projects with social impact.
Thus, during 2025, food is the focus of all BBK Kuna initiatives, in which we work with different communities and profiles:
- Inhabitants of the future: citizens, with special impact in our neighbourhood. We have conducted a food survey, which has laid the foundation for our upcoming actions related to cooking at home and with the family.
- The Future Game: an initiative developed with young people, in which we are working on food and identity.
- Googaz: an initiative with adolescents, where we combine technology and social innovation through virtual reality. This year with the focus on developing a food-centric game.
- ProtopIA: imagining desirable futures in food and shared reflection with the business environment on the impact that generative Artificial Intelligences are having and will have on work focusing on people and the agri-food sector.
- We will also present a seal of quality on sustainable food in the hospitality sector.
