Winning proposal for the Urazurrutia tunnel mural.
BBK Kuna opened a call last March to receive proposals from muralists who wanted to work on the tunnel that connects the Urazurrutia Wharf with the Marzana Wharf, just under the San Antón Bridge. After evaluating all the projects, the jury, made up of BBK representatives, members of the Neighbourhood Advisory Council and people linked to the world of art and graffiti, chose the young artist living in Bilbao, Zouhir Oujaa (Midelt, Morocco), as the winner of the prize for the Best Mural Project, worth 3,000 euros. Zouhir will begin to create the mural in June.
The jury highlighted the freshness of his tremendously colourful and harmonious proposal, in which the protagonists are geometric shapes that will adapt perfectly to the complex surface of the tunnel.
“I have painted square modules, with spheres inscribed and very colourful, with the logos of the SDGs at the ends. That area of Bilbao is very beautiful and with the colouring and this mural I hope it will look even better”, says the artist.
The rest of the proposals participating in this call, all of outstanding quality, can be enjoyed in an exhibition that BBK Kuna will be hosting on its Muelle floor from 1 to 14 June.
