The 2030 Agenda will be transformative to the extent that it is consistent with the overall commitment to human rights and achieves gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
Feminist, women’s and human rights organisations play a critical role in ensuring that gender equality and human rights are central to the 2030 Agenda and have fought for human rights principles and obligations to be reflected in it. This day will seek to understand the relationship between the SDGs and women’s rights in order to move forward in making the 2030 Agenda a reality in an effective and transformative way.
Objectives:
To promote knowledge on the relationship between the 2030 Agenda and women’s rights as key elements for sustainable human development.
To reflect on the meaning, implications and progress on women’s rights in the 2030 Agenda.
To learn about the reality of the struggles of different groups of women.
