The recital that Jatorki Abesbatza presents under the title Herri, errai, erro: Ganbaran wants to take care of the music offered by small-format musical groups, and that, in some way, allows to visualise strategies and values in accordance with the most current social policies.
Hence the interest in holding it in the Ganbara of the Casa Kuna, an emblematic building in the heart of Bilbao la Vieja, which has been a reference in the generation of opportunities for disadvantaged people, social integration and in the pre-school education of so many children who, at one time, were in a situation of social exclusion.
For this edition of Ganbaran, Jatorki Abesbatza wants to remember the important role that music plays in favouring coexistence and dialogue between the different cultures of the world. In an international situation in which violence seems to be increasingly resorted to as a tool to solve conflicts, music becomes a first-rate element with which to highlight the need for coexistence between cultures, a coexistence based on mutual respect and the recognition of the different identities of each people.
Jatorki Abesbatza will present the event, with Alea Trio being the chamber ensemble that will lead us musically in this reflection. Alea Trio is made up of three outstanding musicians from Bizkaia who have extensive experience in a wide variety of genres. Their aim is to tackle a repertoire that is highly appreciated by a wide spectrum of audiences, but with a scarce number of performers in our territory: ‘world music’.
Sounds from such disparate cultures as Latin American, klezmer, Basque or Arabic, together with their own compositions, are approached from a perspective that combines elements of jazz and classical chamber music, resulting in fresh and energetic music in which humour and virtuosity play a prominent role.
Alea Trio is formed by: Mario Clavell Larrinaga (flutes) Marta Díaz Iriondo (piano and accordion) and Jon Ander Amigo Alcedo (electric bass and double bass).
