The workshop on resilience and welfare state mechanisms proposes the double objective of discussing and reflecting on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic from an institutional perspective as well as from the experience lived by citizens. In order to do this, we will have, on the one hand, the presentation of the first impact analysis results of the pandemic on the welfare state including democratic governance models and, on the other, the first results on the fieldwork carried out in the provinces of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. In addition, three experts will contribute to reflect on and discuss about models of care in democratic societies:

  • Judit Vall, Professor in the Department of Economics at the Universitat de Barcelona, and researcher at the Fundació IEB and CRES at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
  • Marga León, Professor and senior researcher at the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
  • Patricia Bárcena is Director of CEAR Euskadi.
